What is eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to sign up to a Everyday Mobile from Woolworths Prepaid, Long Expiry or SIM Only plan without the need to insert a physical SIM card into your device.

It means you can quickly activate your Everyday Mobile from Woolworths Prepaid, Long Expiry or SIM Only plan on Australia's trusted network†. No more waiting for the Starter Pack to arrive by mail, you can now sign up to a new plan and be ready to go all in the comfort of your own home. Or train. Or Office.

To activate, once your order is complete, you will need both your eSIM compatible device and another device connected to internet/wi-fi (i.e phone, tablet or computer). Alternatively, you will need to print out the email we send to capture the QR code as part of activation. Plus, you won't need to use one of those tiny silver tools again. Sweet!

How does eSIM work?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a phone plan without the need to insert a physical SIM card. If you sign up to an eSIM plan, or complete a Change to eSIM, we will send you a QR Code which you scan with your phone's camera. This will then start the process of downloading your eSIM onto your compatible device.

Convenient

eSIM also gives you the flexibility and convenience of having two phone numbers on one eSIM compatible device, you know - for people who like to keep work and play separate.

Simply follow these steps to get started:

Choose between a Prepaid 30-day, Long Expiry plan or SIM Only plan and add it to the cart

Choose your SIM type by selecting eSIM and follow the sign up process

We will activate your service and email you your QR code to download your eSIM profile

Please ensure that you visit the device manufacturer's website to check if your device is compatible with an eSIM.
eSIM companion plans for Wearables (where you can pair your watch and phone on the same phone number)
is not currently available.

Set up your eSIM

Check that your phone is eSIM compatible.

Ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi or have an existing active SIM Card with mobile data on the device you wish to activate the eSIM on.

Open the Camera app on the device you wish to install the eSIM onto and scan your QR code.

a. The QR code is sent via email. You will need to either print it out or have it open on another device to scan it.

At the “Set Up Mobile Plan” screen, tap ‘Continue’.

At the “Add Mobile Plan” screen, tap ‘Add Mobile Plan’

Are you planning on using multiple SIMs? To use multiple SIMs (i.e your Everyday Mobile from Woolworths eSIM and another SIM), you will need to choose which SIM you want as your “Primary number

a. From the “Mobile Plan Labels” screen, tap ‘Primary’

b. Tap the desired label then tap Done (upper-left).

c. Tap Secondary. This is your new Everyday Mobile from Woolworths eSIM.

d. Select the desired label then tap Done (upper-left).

e. Tap Continue

Tap the default line (e.g., Primary, Secondary, etc.) you want to use to call or send messages

Tap (check) the Mobile plan(s) you want to use for iMessage® and FaceTime® then tap Continue.

Tap the default line (e.g., Primary, Secondary, etc.) used for mobile data then tap Done.

Tap the “Allow Mobile Data Switching switch” On to allow your phone to use mobile data from both lines depending on coverage and availability.

Check that your phone is eSIM compatible.

Ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi or have an existing active SIM Card with mobile data on the device you wish to activate the eSIM on.

Open the Camera app on the device you wish to install the eSIM onto and scan your QR code.

a. The QR code is sent via email. You will need to either print it out or have it open on another device to scan it.

At the “Add this plan to your phone?” screen, tap ‘Confirm’

Your device will add the eSIM plan to your phone

Your new eSIM will be automatically added and can be viewed in “SIM card manager”.

If this is a second SIM for your phone, you'll have the option to assign a name and icon for each number on your phone, and choose what numbers/plans are used for your data and voice messages

Change to eSIM for existing customers

For existing customers, you can move from a physical SIM card to an eSIM via the Everyday Mobile from Woolworths app on an eSIM compatible device.

Before you start, you must ensure that:

  1. Check that your device is eSIM compatible.
  2. You have the latest version of the Everyday Mobile from Woolworths app installed (version 7.0 or later)
  3. Your phone is connected to WiFi
  4. You have another device such as a phone, tablet or computer that can receive an email with your unique eSIM QR code

Open the Everyday Mobile from Woolworths app and select the Options tab

Select the SIM Card menu under Service Options

Select Change to eSIM and follow the instructions

You will receive an email that contains your unique QR code.

Open your phone’s camera and scan the QR code

Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your eSIM

Frequently asked questions

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a phone plan without the need to insert a physical SIM card.

If you want to sign up with eSIM:

Select your Prepaid or Long Expiry plan and add to cart. In cart, you will be able to choose between receiving a physical SIM or activating with an eSIM. Please note, signing up with eSIM is not currently available to SIM Only customers. However, you can “swap” your physical SIM to eSIM via the Mobile app after you activate.

If you want to move your existing service to eSIM:

To use an eSIM with Everyday Mobile from Woolworths on a compatible device, download the Everyday Mobile from Woolworths app, sign in, tap the “Options” tab, then “SIM Card”, then “Change to eSIM” and follow the on screen instructions

Once you have a new compatible device, simply download the Everyday Mobile from Woolworths app, sign in, tap the Options tab, then tap SIM Card, then tap Change to eSIM and follow the on screen instructions. This will perform a “SIM swap” to a new eSIM.

Many devices will allow you to have multiple Mobile Plans set up on the device, but only 2 lines can be active at any one time. This is usually 2 physical SIM cards, 1 physical with 1 eSIM, or in some devices such as an iPhone 13, you can have 2 eSIM active at once.

If you didn’t receive the email, check your junk or spam folder. Also check that the email address on your account is correct. If you still are having trouble locating your QR code, please contact our team.

Once you have a new compatible device, simply download the Everyday Mobile from Woolworths app, sign in, tap the Options tab, then tap SIM Card, then tap Change to eSIM and follow the on screen instructions. This will perform a “SIM swap” to a new eSIM.

Simply purchase a $2 SIM card from your local Woolworths store, sign into the Everyday Mobile from Woolworths app, tap the Options tab, then tap Change SIM Card Number and follow the instructions on screen.
